Carolyn Kolben
Ms. Kolben was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She attended Mount Holyoke College and graduated from Duke University with dual degrees with honors n Political Science and Public Policy. Following graduation from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, she entered public service as an Assistant State Attorney working for the office of the Dade County State Attorney in Miami, Florida, after which she worked the law firms of Shutts & Bowen LLP in Miami, Florida, After moving to the District of Columbia she worked at Holland & Knight in Washington, D.C, until she returned to returned to public service in 1987 as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia.
As an Assistant United States Attorney, she appeared in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and D.C. Superior Court. Ms. Kolben is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the United States District Courts for the District of Columbia and the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. She a member of the District of Columbia, Florida, New York , Maryland and North Carolina bars.
Since leaving the U.S. Attorneys Office, Ms. Kolben has engaged in document review for international top tier law firms, litigation consulting, and ad hoc legal research and writing. She also serves as pro bono counsel with Catholic Charities of the District of Columbia in immigration cases, and is a member of the Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution with an interest in Business and Employment Mediation.
